I'm Veronika Ambertson,
Coach & HR Consultant
to international civil servants -
past, present and future -
and to their organizations.
About me
Without any contacts in the UN system, but with a background in HR from the private staffing industry, I joined the UNDP HR office in Copenhagen on a 6-month, maternity leave replacement contract.

It was during my time in Copenhagen that I had the opportunity to go to Malawi on a two-part capacity-building mission, and to Jordan to get trained in emergency response with colleagues from across the globe. This led to me being deployed on a SURGE mission to Haiti in 2010, where I was responsible for recruiting the expertise needed in the aftermath of the devastating earthquake.

One thing I found deeply rewarding in my HR roles, was the deeper conversations I had with staff members, about work - and life. I knew that coaching was what I wanted to pursue once I resigned from UNDP, and I'm now an ICF Professional Certified Coach (PCC).

During my time in Copenhagen, I moved from a temporary Assistant role to an Associate role on a fixed-term appointment, and to being a Team Lead, serving staff members in various regions across the globe.

During maternity leave, I successfully competed for a Specialist role at UNDP HQ in New York, to where I subsequently moved (against the advice of some), with my 6-month-old baby, and served as the HR person in the Bureau of External Relations & Advocacy.

When I left the UN, I did mainly life and career coaching, but soon shifted to career and leadership coaching and advising. I consult with various UN entities, and the majority of my coaching clients are in, or have an interest in the UN or other organizations in the impact sector. I also coach clients in the private sector.
On the personal side: Swedish national, married, one kid, one dog, mostly vegetarian, enjoy nature & growing my own veg.
