From impact to the private sector?

With the impact sector in flux, I know many impact professionals are nudged, even pushed, to consider career moves that they never thought they'd make. Like transitioning to the private sector.
If that's you, you’ve probably wondered how on earth you're going to translate your experience into something that makes sense in a totally different context. It can feel like a daunting task. Many say it feels impossible, making them feel stuck when opportunities are limited.
No doubt, it's a bit of a project.
It'll take some effort.
But it can absolutely be done.
Zooming out, the secret is to strip away the context and focus on your transferable strengths - skills and character traits that any smart employer values.
Zooming in, the secret is to do it line-by-line.
This is something that UNOG (UN Offices in Geneva) covered really well in a recent "Career Tips Thursday" webinar called From the UN to the private sector: Your transition guide, available by clicking here.
The guest speaker walks you through turning your impact CV into one that resonates in the private sector. It's concrete, clear, and super helpful - well worth a watch.
Hope it brings clarity and eases that sense of overwhelm!
PS: If you’d like support in this process, and a recruiter's eye on your applications, I offer two levels of application review: Essentials and Comprehensive. Details here: Job Search & Career Support
PPS: In case you wondered - I started my career in private sector staffing, and still help people transition out of the UN as well as achieving UN job search success, so yes, I can help with non-UN applications as well 🤗
